Autumn Fern Radiance - Dryopteris erythrosora 'Radiance' - 4” Pot
Dryopteris erythrosora 'Radiance'
Another bold and beautiful choice for your fern or container garden, shady borders as well as woodland gardens. A dwarf-growing Autumn fern with young papery fronds that display autumnal coppery-red color, maturing to deep green in contrast to ‘Brillance’ which has copper-orange coloration.
In the spring, the fronds are a variation of reds, oranges, and some pink. Summer brings glossy greens and in fall, the fronds become earthtones blending with the changing leaves that last through the winter; a hard freeze melts the leaves but they will reappear green once it warms up.
This beauty is drought tolerant and deer / rabbit resistant!
Morning sun to dappled shade in fertile, draining soil. Grows 18 to 24 inches in height with a spread of 18 to 24 inches. Spreads by underground stems. Herbaceous evergreen perennial. Hardiness from zones 4 to 11.
Does great in: borders, containers, fernery, massed, natural setting, specimen, stumpery, woodland.
